eBank terms and conditions of use

- Gránit eBank app -

Effective from: 15 September 2016

The Gránit eBank app (hereinafter: App), which can be installed on mobile devices running iOS and Android operating systems, is operated by GRÁNIT Bank Zrt. (hereinafter: Operator). Any person who launches the App on a mobile device (hereinafter: User) shall be deemed to be a user of the App. By using the App, the User accepts the binding effect of these Terms and Conditions of Use of the Gránit eBank app (hereinafter: Terms and Conditions of Use). The Operator reserves the right to amend the Terms of and Conditions of Use without prior notice. It is the responsibility of the Users of the App to verify the validity of the Terms and Conditions of Use.

Any interference outside the Operator’s control which may hinder or alter the functioning of the App is prohibited. The Operator reserves the right – but is not obliged – to limit the types of messages delivered, interrupt or stop sending messages, block or limit the functionality of the App, without prior notice, on mobile devices running an operating system modified by the manufacturer or the User, where the User’s right to access the operating system or its subsystems is not restricted (including, but not limited to: “jailbreak”, “unlock”, “root” and similar modifications), or where modifications to the operating system may present other security and data security risks. The installed App may contain software code suitable for spotting modifications to the operating system, and the App may transmit to the Operator information on the fact that the operating system has been modified.

The Operator particularly draws the User’s attention to the fact that the use of a modified operating system poses high risks on the User, as the protection of banking and personal data and passwords entered on such systems is not adequate, and the proper operation of the App is not ensured.

The User acknowledges and accepts that the Operator has the right to modify, improve or terminate the App at its sole discretion and without prior notice, even if this may result in the User not having access to the information, services and functions contained in the App.

The User expressly accepts and agrees that the Operator may send him/her advertising messages in the App in relation to Gránit Bank’s News and Special Offers.

The User acknowledges and accepts that the App may contain copyrighted or confidential information, including trademarks and patents protected by copyright laws and by international treaties for the protection of intellectual property.

The User acknowledges and accepts that the Operator excludes its liability for the implementation of any settings and/or modifications to bank card(s) initiated from the App; the settings and/or modifications shall be deemed to have been implemented by the Operator at the earliest when the changes made as a result of the settings and/or modifications also appear in the App.

The information made available within the framework of the App – including information on the bank card(s) – is for information purposes only and the User acknowledges and accepts that the Operator excludes any liability for any damages arising from

  • the information available in the App,
  • any settings or modifications to the bank card(s),
  • banning from the App due to the entry of an incorrect access code (mPIN),

or for any damages that may be related to the above. These include, but are not limited to, claims for damages resulting from loss of profits, business interruption, loss of business reputation, programs or information, or any other pecuniary loss arising from the use or inappropriate use the Service, or any permanent or temporary termination of access to the App or the information, or any failure to store any content or information. The limitation under this paragraph shall also apply in the event that the Operator has or has not, or should have known or should not have known, of the occurrence of any loss or damage under this paragraph

The Operator expressly excludes its liability in the event that a payment transaction fails due to the technological state of the POS terminal or its settings when using Gránit Pay.

The User acknowledges and accepts that he/she is obliged to always delete his/her registration from the App whenever he/she hands over his/her mobile device to a third party for temporary or permanent use. The User acknowledges and accepts that, upon deletion of his/her registration or the App, all information stored in the App will be automatically deleted. By accepting these Terms and Conditions of Use, Users who are also the Operator’s customers accept the Operator's latest effective General Terms of Contract for Electronic Banking Services, which are available on the Operator's website (www.granitbank.ro). The User accepts and acknowledges that the Operator is entitled to charge its customers a fee for GRÁNIT iSMS messages delivered through the App and for bank cards digitised within the framework of the GRÁNIT Pay function, to the extent specified in the latest effective relevant Announcement. If you have any questions or comments regarding these Terms and Conditions of Use, you may contact the Operator at the e-mail address and telephone number provided in the My Account menu item.

These Terms and Conditions of Use shall remain in force without time limitation until terminated by the User or the Operator.

IMPORTANT WARNING for Users with a mobile device running the iOS operating system – please pay attention to the following when using the App:

If you notice the arrival of an iSMS message in the notification bar of your iOS device, please open the message within a few minutes, as far as possible. This will trigger the Gránit eBank app, which will be detected by the Bank’s central computer and acknowledge receipt of the message. If this is not the case, the Bank will not always be notified that you have received the message – due to the operational limitations of mobile phones – and the Bank’s system will send the message by SMS after a short waiting period. (For messages sent by traditional SMS, the fee as published in the Announcement will be charged.) When using the iOS version of Gránit eBank – also due to the operational nature of the IOS operating system – it may take longer for the message to arrive than when sending a normal SMS.

Additional important information for Users with an iOS device:

  1. Avoid forcibly closing the App, as this will cause the mobile device to temporarily block the receipt of further iSMS messages. If you have stopped the App in this way, please restart it to allow Gránit iSMS messages to arrive automatically.
  2. Please make sure that all notification methods for the App are enabled in the Settings/Notification Centre/GránitBank menu item.
  3. It is possible that the iOS system or – if using Wi-Fi – a local network device (router) may block the arrival of messages. In case you do not receive GRÁNIT iSMS messages, please try the following:
    • Turn the off and back on again the connection between the mobile device and the Wi-Fi
  4. Recharge the battery of the mobile device, because if the battery is low, the mobile device’s operating system may block the arrival of the messages.
